Why Alternative Energy is Important....

“There are financial benefits too. Investing in a renewable energy technology now basically means pre-buying energy at today’s prices for a future where energy may cost a lot more. If fuel prices rise, your pay back would happen even sooner.”
The Energy Saving Trust. July 2010
Energy is the single biggest challenge of this century, and as our homes consume more heat and power than any other part of moden life, moving towards alternative energy sources at home is one of the most important changes we can make.
We all know about the need to cut carbon emissions and if you are reading this you probably already know why that is so critical, but its easy to overlook how significant micro-generation of alternative energy sources can be in the increasingly tough battle to hit those emissions reduction targets.
Heating represents almost half of all UK CO2 emissions, and to hit the target of a 34% reduction by 2020 we all have to consider replacing our fossil fuel burning oil and gas boilers with alternative heating systems. That means supplementing conventional systems with super efficient solar thermal and solar photovoltaic technology, or complete replacement with alternative central heating systems like the air source heat pump.
